The Tourism Alliance Policy Conference delivered a decisive narrative for the year ahead, with members, policymakers and industry partners aligned on the need for a more competitive, better-resourced visitor economy. The keynote from the Minister for Tourism, Stephanie Peacock MP, addressed industry concerns but expressed support to with stronger coordination with industry and a focus on long-term growth.
Speakers from CBI, FSB and within the tourism sector stressed the same themes: cost pressures, labour shortages, the impact of additional taxes, fragmented local structures, and the need for a genuine visitor economy strategy that supports business confidence.
Their insights will feed directly into current policy work, including visitor levies, skills, competitiveness and the Government’s wider growth agenda. The conference closed with a clear mandate for coordinated action and a strengthened partnership between industry and government, setting the tone for the Alliance’s programme through 2026.
