Overview
Marketing Lancashire is the county’s place marketing organisation. It promotes Lancashire nationally and internationally as a place to visit, live, work, study and invest. Powered by Lancashire County Council, it leads Lancashire’s official Local Visitor Economy Partnership (LVEP). It also runs Visit Lancashire, the county’s tourist board and consumer brand.
Lancashire stretches from Blackpool’s famous seafront and the wider Lancashire coast to the fells and moorland of the Forest of Bowland National Landscape and Pendle Hill. Visitors come for its countryside, canals, cultural heritage, busy calendar of festivals and events, and locally produced food and drink. In 2024, the county welcomed 68.6 million visitors, and its visitor economy was valued at an estimated £5.7bn.
Marketing Lancashire leads the county’s Visitor Economy Strategy, supporting a tourism sector of around 4,000 businesses. Its work includes:
- destination marketing and PR through visitlancashire.com
- a commercial Partners programme
- promoting Lancashire as a business events destination
- commissioning research, including the annual STEAM economic impact report
- hosting the Lancashire Tourism Awards
As the LVEP, it works with district councils and private sector partners to grow a sustainable, accessible visitor economy and to lead bids for national funding.
